About Us

Hi Don Molk here. I want to thank you for visiting my website. Let me take this opportunity to give you a little insight into our company.

I started etching 28 years ago. At that time I did etchings the same way most people still do - with acid. I etched mirrors, glassware, plexi glass, wood, and just about any surface customers wanted images on.

Over the years I came to realize that the acid etched images will fade over a period of time, especially when exposed to the elements.

I was determined to find a way to make my works of art last forever.
So I started experimenting and soon knew that sandblasting would acheive my goal and also I was able to perfect a shading technique, which gave the image more detail and depth.

Most of my early etchings were portraits of people and or their pets.
So when a friend of mine asked me to do an etching of his two dogs on a mirror, I was anxious to use my new sandblasting technique. The mirror came out awesome!

He and his wife loved the mirror so much he came to me and asked if I would consider etching his motorcyle parts.
Always up for a challenge I said 'WHY NOT!!"

The pieces turned out great.... Considering this was my first attempt on motorcyles parts.

Later Cy entered his bike at "The World of Wheels" in Chicago and he won second place. Cy was the one that helped me find a passion in etching 'whatever people want' on their bike parts.

We have etched thousands of images for customers all across America and around the world. All makes of bikes, but mostly Harleys. Because of the tremendous success we have had with the Harley Owners Group -HOG- and since we only personalize the chrome, black wrinkle, mirrors, and windshields of the HOG we thought it fitting that we name this company Etchings By P I G. The P I G comes from the initials Portraits In Glass.

We are a family company and know the importance of customer satisfaction so you can rest assured that when you give us a picture you want etched on your bike part it will be exactly what you expect!

We still do mirrors. So if you want to have a portrait of a loved one etched on a mirror, or have a favorite picture of anything you would like etched we would love to have the opportunity to create a unique piece of art work for you!
